- Q: How to replace the front control arm sub-assembly lower no.1 LH on 2005 Toyota Highlander?A: The first step to replace the front suspension arm sub-assembly lower No.1 LH requires removal of the engine assembly with transaxle followed by removing the transverse engine engine mounting insulator by disconnecting its 3 nuts. The front suspension arm sub-assembly lower No.1 LH must be detached by unscrewing its 3 bolts and nut from suspension lower arm No.1 LH so you can remove it from the engine front support member and its front lower arm bush stopper. Install the front lower arm bush stopper first and subsequently attach the suspension lower arm No.1 LH onto the engine front support member using the 3 bolts and nut without initial torque application. Start from the front area of the vehicle to tighten three bolts according to sequence while applying 200 Nm (2,040 kgf-cm, 148 ft. lbs.) to bolts 1 and 2 followed by 206 Nm (2,100 kgf-cm, 152 ft. lbs.) on bolt 3. Fitting the transverse engine engine mounting insulator begins with screwing 3 nuts before torqueing them to 87 Nm (887 kgf-cm, 64 ft. lbs.). Reinstall the engine assembly that contains the transaxle.
