• Q: How to replace the Rear Control Arm Assembly No.2 LH on 2005 Toyota Highlander?

  A: Before changing the Rear Suspension Arm Assembly No.2 LH the operator must remove the rear wheel. A jack should support the rear axle carrier while matchmarks get applied to the adjust cams and rear suspension member sub-assembly. When removing the nut alongside its adjust cam parts from the rear suspension arm assembly No.2 (inner side) keep the bolt from rotating as the nut is unbolted. The next task entails the removal of the bolt and nut together with the rear suspension arm assembly No.2 (outer side) from the rear axle carrier while maintaining tight control of the nut. The rear suspension arm assembly No.2 LH requires temporary tightening by hanging the inner side onto the rear suspension member sub-assembly through the camber adjust cam and toe adjust cam with the paint mark oriented toward the rear before connecting the outer side to the rear axle carrier by bolting and nutting up the bolt but only performing temporary tightening of the bolt. Secure the suspension then align the matchmarks between adjust cams and the rear suspension member sub-assembly and tighten the bolt to 112 Nm (1,140 kgf-cm, 83 ft. lbs.) and the nut to 100 Nm (1,020 kgf-cm, 74 ft. lbs.). The installation of the rear wheel requires application of 103 Nm torque (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft-lbs.) while checking the rear wheel alignment.
