2005 Toyota Echo Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to remove and install the Door Side Air Bag Sensor for a 2-Door vehicle on 2005 Toyota Echo?
A: The first procedure for removing a Door Side Air Bag Sensor from a 2-Door vehicle must begin with switched off ignition to prevent DTC recordings. The use of SRS parts from different vehicles than your own is strictly prohibited while replacement of every deployed or damaged sensor should be with new components. The regulator handle must be removed from vehicles without power windows while power window switch removal is needed for vehicles with this function. Secondly you need to remove the lower frame bracket garnish followed by the pull handle and door trim. The door side Air Bag sensor should be disconnected through its connector before installing the sensor assembly. Once the sensor assembly is in place disconnect the two bolts that secure it. Install the door side Air Bag sensor by placing it with the bolts facing frontward of the vehicle and tighten them to 20 N.m (205 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf). After installation check that the electrical connector for the sensor is securely locked to stop diagnostic system errors. The completion of the door repair requires placing back the door trim as well as the pull handle and lower frame bracket garnish and power window switch or regulator handle as determined by the vehicle specifications.
