2005 Toyota Celica Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the A/C Clutch on 2005 Toyota Celica?
A: Start clutch compressor servicing by removing all its components. The Special Service Tools 07112-76060 and socket wrench extract the shaft bolt by applying torque to 13.2 N.m (135 kgf.cm, 9 ft.lbf) settings for pressure plate removal. Utilize Special Service Tool: 07112-66040 to remove the pressure plate with the assistance of 07112-76060 and a socket wrench and concurrently extract the shims. The snap ring on the rotor needs Special Service Tool: 95994-10020 for removal before using a plastic hammer to gently tap the rotor off the shaft without damaging the pulley. On both operations after connector removal from the stator Special Service Tool: 95994-10020 helps to remove the snap ring before removing the stator. Attach the stator first while using Special Service Tool: 95994-10020 to mount the snap ring with beveled positioning upwards before reconnecting the stator connector. Install the rotor along with its snap ring by orienting the point of beveling toward the top surface. Install the pressure plate with the shims already placed on it onto the rotor afterwards use Special Service Tools 07112-66040, 07112-76060 together with a torque wrench to tighten the shaft bolt to 13.2 N.m (135 kgf.cm, 9 ft.lbf). Set the dial indicator to the pressure plate before connecting the magnetic clutch lead wire to the positive battery terminal to measure the plate and rotor clearance when applying the negative terminal. Inspection of the magnetic clutch clearance requires standard measurement at 0.45 plus or minus 0.10 mm (0.018 plus or minus 0.004 in.). Shims with 0.1 mm (0.004 in.), 0.3 mm (0.012 in.), and 0.5 mm (0.020 in.) can modify the clearance for achieving standard measurements.
