    Q:
How to service and repair the A/C Clutch on Toyota Celica? Posted by Customer
    A:
Service and repair of the compressor clutch requires you to first operate the engine while idling with the air conditioning engaged for ten minutes and afterward stop the engine before disconnecting the negative cable from the battery. The refrigeration system should have its refrigerant discharged before taking off the drive belt. Service the 1ZZ-FE compressor clutch by removing cruise control actuator hardware and remove air pump assembly hardware for the 2ZZ-GE model. You should disconnect the discharge and suction hoses through the removal of two bolts while immediately applying caps to the open fittings to stop moisture or dirt from entering the system. Disconnect the compressor by unfastening its connector and wire harness clamp and the 3 bolts. Installation requires attaching the compressor with its three bolts while tightening bolt A first without forcing it then pressing down on its rear section before fully tightening the bolts B, C, and A sequentially to achieve a torque of 25 Nm (250 kgf-cm, 18 ft-lbf). The first step involves installing 2 lubricated compressor oil O-rings to the hoses followed by securing the hoses using 2 bolts at a torque force of 10 N.m (100 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf). The cruise control actuator should be installed during the 1ZZ-FE engine assembly process while the air pump assembly installation takes place for the 2ZZ-GE engine. Connect the negative terminal cable to the battery then install and verify the drive belt before air evacuation from the system followed by charging it with an exact amount of 430 plus or minus 30 g (15.17 plus or minus 1.06 oz.) refrigerant. A gas leak detector should be used to identify any refrigerant escape but you need to check joint torque when leakage occurs before proceeding with an A/C functional check.
