2005 Toyota Camry Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the LOWER BALL JOINT ASSEMBLY FRONT LH on 2005 Toyota Camry?
A: The first step to replace the LOWER BALL JOINT ASSEMBLY FRONT LH is to remove the front wheel then unfasten the front axle hub LH nut through the use of Special Service Tool: 09930-00010. You need to start by removing the front disc following detached connections of the speed sensor front LH (with ABS) and front disc brake caliper assembly LH. Special Service Tool: 09628-62011 disconnects the tie rod end sub-assembly LH and this action enables the removal of front suspension arm sub-assembly lower No.1 LH. Use Special Service Tool: 09628-62011 to disconnect the front axle assembly LH and then the lower ball joint assembly front LH. Use a torque wrench to measure the nut's turning stage by turning it continuously at a rate of 3 - 5 seconds per 1 turn during the 5th turn inspection before installing the lower ball joint assembly front LH. Inspect this assembly by flipping the ball joint stud five times and check the turning torque between 0.98 - 3.43 Nm (10 - 35 kgf-cm, 8.7 - 30 inch lbs.). The LH installation sequence includes lower ball joint assembly front LH and then front axle assembly LH and front suspension arm sub-assembly lower No.1 LH along with tie rod end sub-assembly LH. Place the front disc and front disc brake caliper assembly LH before installing the speed sensor front LH (with ABS) along with the front axle hub LH nut to a torque of 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.). The maintenance includes checking the front wheel alignment as well as inspecting the ABS speed sensor signal.
