2005 Toyota 4Runner Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair an A/C Condenser on 2005 Toyota 4Runner?
A: Service and repair duties on the cooler condenser core start with discharging the refrigerant through the use of Special Service Tool: 07110-58060 (07117-58080, 07117-58090, 07117-78050, 07117-88060, 07117-88070, 07117-88080). End the discharge hose sub-assembly by removing its bolt and O-ring before using vinyl tape to cover the openings and maintain system clean and dry. The air conditioning tube assembly requires removal when the bolt and O-ring are taken out while the tube openings are secured with vinyl tape. Remove cooler condenser cushion No.2 after first removing the nut attaching the cooler condenser bracket No.1 along with four bolts and the nut and cushion. Users must remove cooler condenser cushion No.1 when they unfasten its 4 bolts. The cooler condenser core and the cooler dryer can be taken off through the use of a 14 mm hexagon wrench to remove the cap and filter while needle nose pliers extract the O-ring and the cooler dryer. When installing the cooler dryer with needle nose pliers users should fit a new O-ring onto the cap followed by application of compressor oil (ND-OIL 8 or equivalent) to the O-ring and cap fitting surfaces before torquing the cap onto the cooler condenser assembly to 2.9 N.m (30 kgf.cm, 25 in.lbf). The installation begins by securing 4 bolts of cooler condenser cushion No.1 at 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 47 in.lbf), proceeding to install 4 bolts and nut of cooler condenser cushion No.2, and finishing with cooler condenser bracket No.1 using a nut at 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 47 in.lbf). The procedure for installing the air conditioning tube assembly on the cooler condenser assembly includes removing vinyl tape followed by applying compressor oil to both the new O-ring and fitting surfaces before installing the O-ring then completing the connection with a bolt at 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 47 in.lbf). The discharge hose sub-assembly requires compressor oil treatment for both new O-ring and fitting interfaces before screwing with a bolt set to 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 47 in.lbf). To complete the procedure charge the refrigerant through Special Service Tool: 07110-58060 (07117-58060, 07117-58070, 07117-58080, 07117-58090, 07117-78050, 07117-88060, 07117-88070, 07117-88080) with a 600 plus or minus 30 g (21.16 plus or minus 1.06 oz.) amount while warming the engine and checking for leaks.
