Wear protective clothing with gloves so you can wash your skin thoroughly either with soap and water or use waterless hand cleaner to remove any used engine oil while abstaining from using gasoline or thinners or solvents. The proper location to discard oil filters and.used oil products exists at specific disposal sites. First drain all engine oil before extracting the oil filter sub-assembly with Special Service Tool: 09228-06501. Before installation, inspect and clean the mounting area while applying fresh engine oil to the gasket inside a new oil filter before starting mounting and continuing to tighten it until the gasket meets the seat. Complete the filter installation using Special Service Tool: 09228-06501 by adding 3/4 more turns of torque. Replace the oil drain plug and use a new gasket before torquing the plug to 38 Nm (382 kgf-cm, 28 ft. lbs.). The oil fill should contain 3.7 liters (3.9 US qts, 3.3 Imp. qts) when using a new filter but only 3.4 liters (3.6 US qts, 3.0 Imp. qts) without replacement or 4.1 liters (4.3 US qts, 3.6 Imp. qts) as a dry fill capacity. The last step should involve a leak inspection of the engine oil.
