2005 Scion tC Radiator Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the radiator assembly on 2005 Scion tC?
A: The starting point for radiator assembly (2AZ-FE) replacement begins with disconnecting the battery negative terminal then draining engine coolant from the system. Start the procedure by removing the right-side under cover of the engine before disconnecting the radiator hose connections and both automatic transaxle tubes No.1. Begin radiator assembly replacement by first disconnecting two cooling fan motor connectors and then unwinding the two engine room main wire clamps and radiator reserve tank hose. Lastly detach two bolts from the radiator support uppers to extract the component from the automobile. Take out two bolts and the two pawl fittings from the radiator support lower to remove it as well as the fan shroud along with its motor. Begin by mounting the fan shroud first before torquing it to 5.0 Nm (51 kgf-cm, 44 inch lbs.) then proceed with the radiator support lower installation. The radiator assembly installation requires two bolts and two radiator support uppers tightened to 19 Nm (194 kgf-cm, 14 ft. lbs.) while reconnecting the radiator reserve tank hose together with the two clamps of the engine room main wire and the two cooling fan motor connectors. After assembly of automatic transaxle tubes No.1 outlet and inlet installation proceed with attaching the radiator hose outlet and inlet. Start by adding engine coolant then you can re-install the battery negative terminal at 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 inch lbs.) and verify engine coolant leakage before you finish by putting back the engine under cover on the right-hand side.
