- Q: How to replace the Parking Brake Cable Assembly No. 1 on 2004 Toyota Sienna?A: The first step when replacing the Parking Brake Cable Assembly No. 1 requires disconnecting the negative battery terminal. The installation process starts with removing the front door scuff plate LH as well as the cowl side trim board LH and instrument panel finish panel sub-assy lower LH. The rear door scuff plates RH and LH alongside the front seat assembly LH (manual, power, or fold flat type) are also required for removal. Start by unattaching the rear No. 1 seat assembly (captain seat type LH or center) and then proceed with removing the rear floor seat lock covers. The parking brake control pedal assembly along with the parking brake pedal bracket protector needs removal before proceeding to extract the parking brake cable assembly No. 1. Installation of a new parking brake cable assembly No. 1 starts with loosening the lock nut and adjusting nut followed by removing the clip and disconnecting the cable from the parking brake control pedal assembly. Then, take up the floor carpet before removing either 6 bolts (for types excluding 7 passenger) or 7 bolts (for 7 passenger type) to disconnect the cable from the floor. The installation requires disconnection of the parking brake cable No.1 from the parking brake equalizer before final cable removal. The installation of new parking brake cable assembly No. 1 requires connecting it to the parking brake cable equalizer then securing it using either 6 bolts for non-7 passenger types or 7 bolts for 7 passenger types while torquing Bolt (A) to 5.6 Nm and Bolt (B) to 8 Nm. Replace the parking brake pedal bracket protector followed by the parking brake control pedal assembly along with rear floor seat lock covers which need to be paired with rear No. 1 seat assembly and front seat assembly LH. Examine and correct the parking brake pedal movement when performing the final checks.
