2004 Toyota Sienna Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the LOWER BALL JOINT ASSY FRONT LH on 2004 Toyota Sienna?
A: Begin by detaching the front wheel along with the front axle hub LH nut through Special Service Tool: 09930-00010. Start by disconnecting the speed sensor front LH while at the same time separating the front disc brake caliper assembly LH and the front disc. Separate the tie rod assembly LH through the use of Special Service Tool: 09628-62011 before disassembling the front suspension arm sub-assembly lower No.1 LH. The front axle assembly LH and the lower ball joint assembly front LH can be removed with Special Service Tool: 09628-62011 when the front LH axle assembly nut and the cotter pin are both taken off. The lower ball joint assembly front LH must undergo inspection by flipping its ball joint stud five times minimum before installing the nut. Continuously turning the nut during installation with a torque wrench will require a rate of 3-5 seconds per turn while the torque reading should fall within 0.98 - 3.43 Nm (10 - 35 kgf-cm, 8.7 - 30 inch lbs.). Apply a torque of 123 Nm when installing the lower ball joint assembly front LH before inserting a new cotter pin. Alignment of the cotter pin holes does not matter since you should proceed to tighten the nut more if the holes are misaligned until it reaches a 60° angle. After making all these front axle assembly LH and front suspension arm sub-assembly lower No.1 LH along with tie rod assembly LH and front disc installation you should begin by torquing the front axle hub LH nut to 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.). Examine the front wheel alignment and verify ABS speed sensor signals after the system installation completes.
