2004 Toyota Sienna Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace an A/C Condenser on 2004 Toyota Sienna?
A: The initial step to replace the condenser core requires refrigerant discharge using Special Service Tool: 07110-58060 (07117-58080, 07117-58090, 07117-78050, 07117-88060, 07117-88070, 07117-88080). The process requires removal and disconnection of the discharge hose sub-assy through its bolt and O-ring removal along with application of vinyl tape at the openings to block moisture access and simultaneous removal of front fender liners (LH and RH) and front bumper cover. Pipe A contains liquid refrigerant so first remove the bolt and O-ring from it before sealing the openings. Users should remove the hood lock release lever protector together with air cleaner inlets No.2 and No.1 along with all necessary bolts. To begin the radiator support sub-assy upper removal, disconnect all horn connectors and remove its components and the LH and RH parts using appropriate bolts. First unplug the connector before opening the clamp which enables you to take out the cooler condenser core followed by the cooler dryer by using a 14 mm hexagon wrench to unscrew the cap and O-ring and extract the dryer with needle nose pliers. Position the fresh cooler dryer with a new O-ring onto its fittings and coat them with compressor oil (ND-OIL 8 or equivalent). Then bolt the cap tightly at 2.9 Nm (30 kgf.cm, 25 in.lbf). First install the new cooler condenser core with two bolts tightened to 3.9 Nm (40 kgf.cm, 35 in.lbf)torsque while then installing the radiator support sub-assy upper RH and LH bolts according to their specified torque values. Install cooler refrigerant liquid pipe A while using compressor oil on the new O-ring and fastening it to the cooler condenser core with a bolt set to 5.4 Nm (55 kgf.cm, 47 in.lbf) torque. Reinstall the discharge hose sub-assy with correct torques applied during installation. The device used for refrigerant charging is Special Service Tool: 07110-58060 (07117-58060, 07117-58070, 07117-58080, 07117-58090, 07117-78050, 07117-88060, 07117-88070, 07117-88080) and requires a 780 plus or minus 30 g (27.5 plus or minus 1.06 oz.) amount of refrigerant before engine warming and leak investigation.
