2004 Toyota Sequoia Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to Service and Repair a Brake Caliper on 2004 Toyota Sequoia?
A: You need to start brake caliper service and repair work by removing the rear wheel then tightening it to 110 Nm (1,150 kgf-cm, 82 ft. lbs.). The caliper union bolt and gasket need removal from the flexible hose to drain brake fluid into a container after torquing the connection to 31 Nm (320 kgf-cm, 23 ft. lbs.). Set the flexible hose inside the projections located on the caliper. Extract the caliper after you disconnect both sliding pins with a torque setting of 88 Nm (900 kgf-cm, 65 ft. lbs.) then remove the caliper from the torque plate. The work requires removal of two brake pads with their attached anti-squeal shims and detachment of four pad support plates. To install the components follow the opposite process of removal by filling the brake reservoir with fluid and performing a brake system bleed followed by leak inspection.
