2004 Toyota MR2 Spyder Radiator Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the radiator on 2004 Toyota MR2 Spyder?
A: Service of the radiator starts with draining the engine coolant. Service of the radiator begins with the removal of two bolts and nuts and two spare wheel carrier extensions for the tool box and luggage compartment trim box cover before proceeding to the radiator assembly by disconnecting two electric cooling fan connectors and two radiator hoses and removing four bolts and two radiator upper supports and taking out two radiator lower support bushings. You should take away the electric cooling fan from the radiator after unscrewing its 2 bolts and electric cooling fan assembly. The installation of an electric cooling fan to the radiator begins with securing both bolts at 5 Nm torque (51 kgf-cm, 44 inch lbs.). To install the radiator assembly begin by positioning the radiator assembly to the body before installing the 2 radiator lower support bushings and securing the 2 radiator upper supports with 4 bolts at 12.5 Nm torque. Finish the process by connecting the 2 radiator hoses and 2 electric cooling fan connectors as well as installing the 2 spare wheel carrier extensions with 2 bolts and 2 nuts at 8 Nm torque. Engine coolant should be added and then the luggage compartment trim box cover and tool box installed while checking for engine leaks before a final evaluation of the engine coolant level.
