2004 Toyota Land Cruiser Speed Sensor Parts Q&A
Q: How to service and repair the Transmission Speed Sensor on 2004 Toyota Land Cruiser?
A: Before servicing the Transmission Speed Sensor you need to disconnect the No. 1 vehicle speed sensor connector. You must first disconnect the No. 1 vehicle speed sensor connection then remove its retaining bolt and speed sensor. Service the No. 1 vehicle speed sensor by firstly removing its O-ring from the speedometer driven gear assembly before moving onto the clip and the speedometer driven gear from the speedometer driven gear sleeve. The construction of the No. 1 vehicle speed sensor includes attaching the speedometer driven gear and clip to the speedometer driven gear sleeve before installing a new O-ring that has been treated with ATF. Install the No. 1 vehicle speed sensor with its bolt while using a torque of 16 Nm (160 kgf-cm, 12 ft. lbs.). The No. 1 vehicle speed sensor connector requires installation at this stage. To remove the speed sensor NT and SP2 the technician first disconnects their connectors before removing 2 bolts and cutting 2 O-rings from both sensors. The installation process requires ATF coating of two new O-rings before installing them to the speed sensor NT and SP2. Afterward, apply 2 bolts to the speed sensor NT and SP2 while maintaining 5.4 Nm of torque (55 kgf-cm, 48 inch lbs.). Serverally attach the speed sensor NT and SP2 connectors as the last step.
