- Q: How Should You Safely Deploy an Air Bag When Scrapping a Vehicle on 2004 Toyota Echo?A: Owner and employees must always deploy an SRS-equipped vehicle Air Bag or dispose of side Air Bag assemblies in open outdoor venues before using Special Service Tool: 09082-00700 (SRS Air Bag Deployment Tool). A suitable battery power needs to be available for deployment operations. Verify the proper functioning of tool Special Service Tool: 09082-00700 before disconnecting the side Air Bag connector while protecting the Air Bag wire harness from damage. The installation of the Special Service Tools should begin with 09082-00700 and 09082-00750 attached to the Air Bag connector but keep the secondary lock of the twin lock free of the tension to avoid tool damage. Place the Special Service Tool at a minimum 10 m (33 ft) distance from the vehicle front then secure all doors and windows before applying the red clip to the battery positive (+) terminal while the black clip goes to the negative (-) terminal. Use caution to deploy the Air Bag only when you have checked for occupants and empty areas extending 10 m (33 ft) from the vehicle then activate the switch to have the Air Bag deploy while the LED lights simultaneously. The Air Bag assembly of a side impact device requires at least 30 minutes without contact before handling while wearing safety equipment including gloves and glasses before any water application to the Air Bag. Complete your washing routine with water immediately after finishing your work and keep the deployed Air Bag inside the vehicle with its side Air Bag assembly still attached during vehicle scrapping.
