How to replace the rear speed sensor on 2004 Toyota Camry?

To replace the sensor you should first detach the skid control sensor wire from the rear wheel assembly. First take off the left side brake caliper on the rear wheel and then remove the rear disc. Remove the left rear axle hub & bearing assembly by taking out its 4 bolts. Put the rear axle hub into a soft-jaw vise for work but replace the hub assembly when it receives significant damage. Use a pin punch and a hammer to push out the 2 pins from the rear axle hub then remove the 2 attachments with the Special Service Tools: 09520-00031 (09520-00040), 09521-00020, 09950-00020 along with 2 bolts (12 mm diameter and 1.5 mm pitch) to take out the skid control sensor. When the sensor rotor becomes damaged both parts require replacement and you must be cautious not to scratch the sensor to axle hub junction. Make sure both the new sensor and axle hub surfaces stay clean before putting the components together. Place the sensor correctly onto the axle hub while securing it with the formatter: 09830-36010, 09950-60010 and 09951-00650 as well as the press: 09950-70010 09951-07100 to install the speed control device. Put back the rear disc with the right brake caliper before using 4 bolts at 80 Nm (816 kgf.cm, 59 lb ft) to secure the axle hub assembly. Rejoin the skid control sensor wire and put the back wheel in place by tightening to 103 Nm force. Visit the tire for inspection while taking vehicle height readings then examining side slip and camber angles along with toe-in angle. Adjust accordingly and test the ABS speed sensor signal.
