• Q: How to replace the FLOOR SHIFT PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSY (ATM) on 2004 Scion xA?

  A: The first step to replace the FLOOR SHIFT PARKING LOCK CABLE ASSY (ATM) requires you to disconnect the negative terminal of the battery. The maintenance procedure requires front wheels to face straight ahead before removing the horn button assembly together with the steering wheel assembly, steering column cover, instrument cluster finish panel, instrument cluster finish panel garnish No.2, instrument cluster finish panel garnish No.1, instrument cluster finish panel assembly center, front ash receptacle assembly, instrument cover lower center, instrument panel finish panel lower center, console box rear cover, console box carpet, and console box assembly rear. Connectors to the floor shift parking lock cable assembly happen by rotating the adjust lock cap clockwise 90° while pushing the claw to release from the shift lock release link and using a screwdriver to unfasten the cable from the shift lever plate followed by clamp removal. The lever should be set to N and an upper bracket connector needs disconnection.
