The procedure to change parking brake cable assembly No.3 starts by taking out the console box assembly rear followed by loosening wire adjusting nut No.1. The first step involves removing the two bolts that secure the front floor panel brace as well as extracting the exhaust pipe assembly front portion. The front floor heat insulator No.2 and its two bolts need to be removed at this stage. The parking brake cable assembly No.3 separates when installing the four bolts and removing it from both body and parking brake equalizer connections. First dismantle the rear brake drum sub-assembly before removing the front brake shoe then the automatic adjust lever LH and rear brake shoe continues before separating the rear wheel. The next step requires removal of the rear brake parking brake shoe lever sub-assembly followed by disconnecting the parking brake cable assembly No.3 from the backing plate. The new parking brake cable assembly No.3 needs to be attached to the parking brake cable equalizer and secured with four bolts that must be tightened to 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 inch lbs.). Start by applying high-temperature grease followed by installation of the rear brake parking brake shoe lever sub-assembly together with the rear brake shoe along with the rear brake automatic adjust lever LH and front brake shoe through utilization of Special Service Tool: 09718-00010. Check the rear drum brake installation before installing the rear brake drum sub-assembly and adjusting the rear drum brake shoe clearance to complete wheel installation by torquing it to 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.). Tighten wire adjusting nut No.1 before inserting the two bolts onto front floor heat insulator No.2 and tightening it to 5.5 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 inch lbs.). The front section of the exhaust pipe assembly requires two bolts for assembly which must be torqued to 20 Nm (204 kgf-cm, 18 ft. lbs.). At the same time the floor panel brace front needs two bolts with torque setting at 20 Nm (204 kgf-cm, 18 ft. lbs.). The last step includes checking the parking brake lever travel followed by console box assembly install at the rear position and exhaust gas leak inspection.

The replacement of parking brake cable assembly No.3 requires starting by removing the console box assembly rear and disturbing wire adjusting nut No.1. The front floor panel brace gets its 2 bolts removed so you can extract the exhaust pipe assembly front. The maintenance continues with removal of both bolts and front floor heat insulator No.2. The four bolts holding parking brake cable assembly No.3 allow the disconnecting of this component both from the body and from the parking brake equalizer. The work sequence begins with the removal of the rear wheel before moving on to taking out the rear brake drum sub-assembly followed by front brake shoe then rear brake automatic adjust lever LH and finally the rear brake shoe. Proceed to take out the rear brake parking brake shoe lever sub-assembly before disconnecting parking brake cable assembly No.3 from its position on the backing plate. Fasten parking brake cable assembly No.3 to the parking brake cable equalizer after connection while tightening 4 bolts to a torque value of 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 inch lbs.). High-temperature grease application is followed by installation of the rear brake parking brake shoe lever sub-assembly, rear brake shoe, rear brake automatic adjust lever LH, and front brake shoe while utilizing Special Service Tool: 09718-00010. The rear drum brake installation needs verification before adding rear brake drum sub-assembly and adjusting rear drum brake shoe clearance to reinstall the rear wheel with torque set at 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft-lbs). Install the front floor heat insulator No.2 using two bolts which require torque application to 5.5 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 inch lbs.). You should connect the exhaust pipe assembly front and floor panel brace front using 2 bolts which need to be torqued to 20 Nm (204 kgf-cm, 18 ft. lbs.). The last steps require checking the parking brake lever travel and installing the console box assembly rear while also inspecting for exhaust gas leaks.

Connect the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly to the parking brake equalizer and secure it to the body with the nut and 3 bolts, ensuring a torque of 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 inch lbs.).

Reconnect the battery negative terminal and inspect the horn button assembly, SRS warning light, and key interlock operation.

Ensure the front wheels are straight ahead.
