- Q: How to replace the Air Bag Sensor Rear LH on 2004 Scion xA?A: The first step to replace the Air Bag Sensor Rear LH demands implementing restraint systems service precautions followed by removing the battery negative terminal. Start by taking out the Deck Board No.1 followed by Deck Trim Cover Rear and next remove the Rear Door Scuff Plate LH, Rear Door Opening Trim Weather Strip LH, Rear Seat Cushion W/Cover Pad Sub-Assy, Rear Seat Back Assy LH, and finally the Rear Seat Back Hinge Sub-Assy LH and Rear Seat 3 Point Type Belt Assy Outer. First disconnect the connector from the Air Bag Sensor Rear LH and remove its bolt before taking out both the Air Bag Sensor Rear LH and the Deck Trim Side Panel Assy LH. Begin the installation of the new Air Bag Sensor Rear LH only after disconnecting the battery negative terminal for 90 seconds when the ignition switch stands off. Secure the sensor with its bolt while applying 9.0 Nm of torque which equals 92 kgf.cm and 80 in.lbf. The sensor needs replacement with a new part when drops or evidence of cracks and dents and defective components become present. The SRS wiring must be kept away from any other installed components which could cause pinching or wire interference. Use the sensor connector then inspect all installing parts for potential looseness. Inspection of the SRS warning light completes the procedure for installing the Rear Seat Back Hinge Sub-Assy LH together with Rear Seat Back Assy LH.
