2003 Toyota Tundra Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to remove and install the front Air Bag sensor on 2003 Toyota Tundra?
A: Begin the front Air Bag sensor removal by turning off the ignition because the DTC recording process must be prevented. Always install fresh replacement parts when repairing sensors because repairing or reusing any sensor from an affected collision remains forbidden. The left-hand side installation requires users to remove battery carrier, battery and battery tray before disconnecting the front Air Bag sensor connector on the installed sensor assembly. The next step involves undoing the two bolts which anchor the front Air Bag sensor. To remove the front Air Bag sensor on the right-hand side first eradicate the air cleaner assembly then disconnect the front Air Bag sensor connector using the standard method followed by bolt removal for sensor extraction. Fundamentally install front Air Bag sensors with four bolts while maintaining 20 N.m (205 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf) torque to face the arrow towards vehicle front direction. Connect the sensor connectors exclusively after installation by using the specified torque values. A new sensor replacement becomes necessary whenever the sensor was dropped or demonstrates malfunction. When connecting the connector to the front sensor you must engage its electrical connection check mechanism because failure to do so may trigger diagnostic system malfunction codes. After the air cleaner assembly installation complete the 2UZ-FE engine requires reinstallation of battery tray and both the battery and carrier.
