Service and repair operations for the Transmission Position Switch/Sensor require the user to disconnect the oil cooler pipe first. To start remove the park/neutral position switch by disconnecting its connector and then prying off the lock washer followed by unstowing the nut to free the bolt before withdrawing the complete switch. First install the new park/neutral position switch along with its bolt by tightening them to 13 Nm (130 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.) torque then proceed to add the new lock plate and nut while torquing to 3.9 Nm (40 kgf-cm, 35 inch lbs.) before bending the lock plate claws to lock the nut. The engine must start only when the shift lever is in N or P position according to connector verification; proceed with adjustment when verification fails. Complete the task by connecting and drain filling the ATF before checking the fluid level while performing a test drive of the vehicle.
