2003 Toyota Tacoma Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Crankshaft Position Sensor on 2003 Toyota Tacoma?
A: The Crankshaft Position Sensor replacement begins by removing the engine under cover after which workers should detach the generator and generator bracket through the removal of 3 securing bolts. First disconnect the sensor connector along with the bracket connector followed by removing two bolts from the crankshaft position sensor while also extracting its O-ring. After installing a new O-ring on the sensor, tighten the 2 bolts to 8.5 N.m (85 kgf.cm, 74 in.lbf) while securing the new sensor. Connect the sensor connector to the bracket and finally to the sensor before reinstalling the components. Screw the generator bracket back in and tighten Bolt A to 74.5 N.m while Bolts B requires 18 N.m torque specification. The completion of the installation requires putting the engine and generator back into their positions under the cover.
