2003 Toyota Tacoma Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How do you service and repair the Air Bag Sensor Assembly on 2003 Toyota Tacoma?
A: The Air Bag Sensor Assembly servicing procedure starts with taking off the front console box and lower center cover. The process of double cab heater duct disconnection requires two bolt removals. The Air Bag sensor assembly removal begins with separating the 3 connectors from their ports while retaining the connector in order to remove the No.1 Brace floor bolt afterward. The Air Bag sensor assembly needs its 3 screws removed through the use of a torx wrench (T40 Part No.09042-00020 or local equivalent). Use a torx wrench to fix the Air Bag sensor assembly in place with the 3 screws where torque must reach 20 N.m and maintain 205 kgf.cm and 15 ft.lbf. To complete the installation secure the No.1 floor bolt while connecting the three connectors by restraining the sensor assembly to torques as specified. Always replace the sensor assembly with a new one whenever it shows signs of damage after falling. The SRS wires require installation without interference from other parts while also avoiding any pinch points in the process. Shake the sensor assembly to check for looseness after the installation is complete. Finally, reinstall any removed parts.
