2003 Toyota MR2 Spyder Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the brake master cylinder on 2003 Toyota MR2 Spyder?
A: The brake master cylinder service starts by disconnecting both the level warning switch and luggage compartment trim box cover. A syringe removes the fluid you need while taking care to prevent brake fluid from sticking to paint since you should immediately wash the painted areas. Special Service Tool: 09023-00100 enables users to disconnect the brake lines from the brake master cylinder before they can remove the master cylinder by unstowing its 2 nuts then extracting the device and removing its O-ring. To install the new master cylinder the repairer should fit an O-ring and tighten its 2 nuts to 13 Nm torque set to 130 kgf-cm and 9 ft. lbs. specification. Follow this procedure when attaching brake lines to the master cylinder using Special Service Tool: 09023-00100 while torquing them to 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.) and 14 Nm (143 kgf-cm, 10 ft. lbs.) using a torque wrench with 30 cm (11.81 inches) of fulcrum length. The level warning switch connector needs to be reconnected while you fill the brake fluid reservoir before performing the brake system bleed. The maintenance ends by testing for leaks then performing brake pedal adjustment and reinstalling the luggage compartment trim box cover.
