    Q:
How to service and repair the brake master cylinder on Toyota MR2 Spyder? Posted by Customer
    A:
Service and repair of the brake master cylinder starts with removing the luggage compartment trim box cover while disconnecting the level warning switch connector. A syringe provides a tool for fluid removal while insulating painted surfaces from contact with fluid. The technician should disconnect the brake lines from the brake master cylinder through Special Service Tool: 09023-00100 before removing the brake master cylinder by taking off the 2 nuts followed by pulling out the master cylinder while removing the O-ring. To install the master cylinder begin by placing a new O-ring in position followed by attaching the 2 nuts before torquing them to 13 Nm (130 kgf-cm, 9 ft.lrbs.). The brake lines should be installed to the master cylinder through the application of Special Service Tool: 09023-00100 and torque should be applied to 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.) and 14 Nm (143 kgf-cm, 10 ft. lbs.) during tool operation with a torque wrench having 30 cm (11.81 inch) fulcrum length. Installation of the level warning switch connector completes before fluid addition into the reservoir and performing the brake system bleed. Check the fluid leakage while adjusting the brake pedal then reposition the luggage compartment trim box cover.
