How to replace the Liftgate Lift Support on 2003 Toyota Highlander?

Replace the trunk or liftgate shock/support by first removing the back door stay assembly from its left-hand position by detaching the 4 bolts and back door stay from the back door panel while providing manual support to the back door at all times. Position the back door stay before installing it with the 4 bolts that require 8.0 N.m (82 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf) torque. Perform this operation to the right-hand side in the same sequence.
