2002 Toyota Sienna Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Shock Absorber on 2002 Toyota Sienna?
A: Start service or repair of the suspension strut by removing the front wheel with a torque specification of 104 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 77 ft. lbs.). Detach the flexible hose bracket along with ABS speed sensor wire harness clamps from the shock absorber using a 29 Nm torque on the nut. Sever the stabilizer bar link attachment to the shock absorber before pulling out the outer front cowl top panel. The shock absorber with coil spring requires users to begin by loosening its lower side's 2 nuts to a torque of 210 Nm (2,150 kgf-cm, 155 ft. lbs.) but the bolts do not need removal. Simple engine oil should be applied to the thread before reattaching the nut. Next follow the protocol of removing three upper shock absorber nuts at 80 Nm torque yet maintain a 820 kgf-cm (59 ft. lbs.) interval between nut removal and the removal of two lower nuts and bolts. Before removing the shock absorber with coil spring you must rotate the suspension support until installation achieves proper alignment. The front wheel alignment should be inspected after finishing the installation process.
