2002 Toyota Sequoia Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Vacuum Brake Booster on 2002 Toyota Sequoia?
A: The Vacuum Brake Booster service requires initial master cylinder removal before vacuum hose and vacuum switch connector separation from the brake booster. First detach the front door scuff plate along with cowl side trim and side panel and lower finish panel and then remove the No. 2 heater to register duct. The brake booster can be removed after shutting down the 4 nuts and pulling it out at 13 Nm of torque (130 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.) only after peddle return spring, clip and clevis pin are detached. The brake booster gasket needs to be detached before loosening the lock nut and extracting the clevis using a torque of 25 Nm (250 kgf-cm, 18 ft. lbs.). Apply 25 Nm (250 kgf-cm, 18 ft. lbs. of torque when removing the brake booster bracket, check valve and gasket after loosening 4 nuts from the chamber. Follow these steps to install the part while starting with filling brake reservoir fluid then bleeding the brake system before checking the brake pedal functioning and concluding with an operational check.
