2002 Toyota Land Cruiser Starter Motor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the starter motor on 2002 Toyota Land Cruiser?
A: The procedure to service and fix the starter motor includes starting with the V-bank cover removal followed by accelerator cable disconnection as well as intake air connector and intake manifold assembly removal. The starter requires removal after bolt extraction from its cylinder block mounting and subsequent disconnect from the cylinder block followed by removal of the starter connector. Start by removing the nut and bolt which disconnectes the starter wire then unfasten the bolt and detached the engine wire protector from the starter as the last step to remove the starter. The first step of installation involves attaching the engine wire protector to the starter by using the bolt and following a torque of 9.81 N.m (100 kgf.cm, 84 in.lbf). Fasten the starter wire using a nut while applying the stated torque strength and proceed with attaching the starter connector. First connect the starter to the cylinder block then use the bolt to fasten the engine wire before putting back the starter in place using the 2 bolts at 39 N.m (400 kgf.cm, 29 ft.lbf). The last step involves reinstalling the intake manifold assembly while restoring the intake air connector then reattaching the accelerator cable followed by installing the V-bank cover.
