2002 Toyota Celica Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the fuel injectors on 2002 Toyota Celica?
A: Service and repair tasks on fuel injectors should start by removing the No.2 cylinder head cover. The PCV hose must be removed before disconnecting the fuel tube by loose first the fuel pipe clamp and then the fuel tube connector while observing safety precautions for retained fuel pipeline pressure to avoid spraying. The initial step involves unauthorizing the 4 injector connectors and taking the delivery pipe and its attachments with 3 bolts and 4 injectors and fuel pipe before taking out the 2 spacers from the cylinder head. Use care when extracting the four injectors through the delivery pipe before you remove the O-ring and grommet from every injector. When installing new delivery parts you must put grommets into each injector before coating O-rings with spindle oil or gasoline and contacting points where the delivery pipe meets with O-rings. Begin installation of all 4 injectors by inserting them into delivery pipes through a turning motion while facing their connectors outward. You must replace the two spacers onto the cylinder head followed by oiling the interfaces between the cylinder head and injector O-rings with spindle oil or gasoline. Next, fit the delivery pipe along with fuel pipe when positioned with the injector on the cylinder head. Check that the delivery pipe and fuel pipe bolts and injectors can spin without resistance by inspecting the installed O-rings before using new ones if necessary. Use a torque wrench to fasten the delivery pipe bolts against the cylinder head at 19 N.m for 1ZZ-FE engines while applying 29 N.m for 2ZZ-GE engines. Also fasten the fuel pipe bolt to 9 N.m. During the last stage of the repair you should complete the fuel tube connection to the fuel pipe but maintain appropriate safety measures when making the connection then install the clamp and replace the No.2 cylinder head cover.
