• Q: How to service and repair the fuel injector on 2002 Toyota Avalon?

  A: The first step to service the fuel injector involves removing the V-bank cover through 5 mm hexagon wrench usage to detach its 3 cap nuts while counterclockwise fastener loosening before cover removal. Service and repairs for the fuel injector start with the disconnection of the air cleaner hose with resonator and afterward the removal of the air intake chamber assembly and injector connectors. First remove the air assist hoses and pipes before disconnecting the No.1 fuel pipe by unwrapping its fuel hose clamp and detaching it from the fuel filter outlet. Take all necessary precautions because the fuel line contains retained pressure. Carefully extract the delivery pipes with injectors after removing all 5 bolts and the delivery pipes containing 6 injectors and No.1 fuel pipe following which remove the 4 spacers from the intake manifold before pulling out the injectors from delivery pipes while discarding the 2 O-rings and 2 grommets from each injector. Installation of new insulators requires grommets per injector followed by spindle oil or gasoline application on fresh O-rings before insertion into the injector. Follow the procedure by coating each delivery pipe contact point on the injector O-ring with spindle oil or gasoline before installing the 6 injectors by turning them to achieve complete seating. Install spacers onto the intake manifold while you should position the injector connector outside the manifold. Then apply a thin layer of spindle oil or gasoline to where the intake manifold seals against the injector O-ring. Replace O-rings if the injectors do not spin smoothly during their installation on the intake manifold and fuel delivery pipes. The next step involves fitting the delivery pipes together with injectors on the intake manifold while attaching four delivery pipe bolts and the No.1 fuel pipe bolt. Tighten the 4 delivery pipe bolts to a torque of 10 N.m then tighten the No.1 fuel pipe bolt to 19.5 N.m. First connect the No.1 fuel pipe by properly aligning white paint markings and then secure its attachment to the fuel filter before using the fuel hose clamp which should emit a "click" sound and ensuring proper fixing. Complete air assist hose installation by also installing pipes alongside injector connectors. Add the air intake chamber assembly with air cleaner hose and resonator and V-bank cover using the 5 mm hexagon wrench and installing 3 cap nuts. Check for fuel leaks during this process.
