2001 Toyota Avalon Fuel Injector Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the fuel injectors on 2001 Toyota Avalon?
A: The V-bank cover requires removal to service and repair the fuel injectors by using a 5 mm hexagon wrench to take off the 3 cap nuts and loosening the fastener counterclockwise. Begin by removing the air cleaner hose with resonator followed by removing the air intake chamber along with separating the injector connectors. Proceed by taking off the air assist hoses and pipe followed by disconnecting the No.1 fuel pipe after removing its fuel hose clamp and removing it from the fuel filter outlet. Keep in mind that fuel line pressure retention requires safety precautions. Clear away the delivery pipes while taking out the 6 injectors and the No.1 fuel pipe by avoiding injector drops and removing all 4 spacers from inside the intake manifold. Deliver the delivery pipes with 6 injectors to separate them before removing existing 2 O-rings and 2 grommets. The procedure for installation includes the use of new insulators and grommets for each injector followed by application of light mineral oil or gasoline to new O-rings before installing them onto each injector. Install the six injectors by applying a clockwise then counterclockwise turn while the light coating of spindle oil or gasoline touches the delivery pipe and injector O-ring interface. First position the injector connector towards the outside before placing 4 spacers on the intake manifold while using spindle oil or gasoline to lubricate the spots where the O-ring of the injector meets the intake manifold. The delivery pipes and fuel pipe with their 6 injectors need placement on the intake manifold before temporary bolt installation of delivery pipe and fuel pipe components. Check that all injectors move properly while possibly necessitating new O-rings. Tighten the 4 delivery pipe bolts to 10 N.m torque while the No.1 fuel pipe bolt reaches 19.5 N.m torque. Securely position and fix the No.1 fuel pipe using white paint marks and activate the fuel hose clamp with an audible "click" sound. You should install the air assist hoses and pipe before you connect the injector connectors then put on the air intake chamber assembly and air cleaner hose with resonator before reattaching the V-bank cover with 3 cap nuts while pressing down the fastener. Lastly, check for fuel leaks.
