2001 Toyota Sequoia Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Coolant Temperature Sensor on 2001 Toyota Sequoia?
A: Draining engine coolant should be the first step when servicing or repairing the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor. The service begins with removing throttle body cover, intake air connector, accelerator cable disconnect and 2 bolts and 2 nuts removal to take off the throttle body gasket. kì The first step requires disconnecting the ECT sensor connector before removing the ECT sensor with its attached gasket. Attach the Engine Coolant Temperature sensor with fresh gasket material which must be tightened at 20.4 N.m (208 kg.cm, 15 ft.lb) torque level and establish the ECT sensor connector link. You should reattach the throttle body to the intake manifolds by installing new gaskets while securing it with 2 bolts and 2 nuts that need tightening to 18 N.m (185 kg.cm, 13 ft.lb) before reconnecting the accelerator cable. Reinstallation of the intake air connector follows before top-off cooling system fluid and complete installation of the throttle body cover.
