2001 Toyota Sequoia Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service and repair the rear brake caliper on 2001 Toyota Sequoia?
A: The service and repair process of the rear brake caliper requires you to start by installing the rear wheel using 110 Nm (1,150 kgf-cm, 83 ft. lbs.) torque before continuing. The next step involves breaking the flexible hose connection by unscrewing the union bolt and removing its gasket so brake fluid can accumulate in a container while torquing this connection to 31 Nm (320 kgf-cm, 23 ft. lbs.). Lay the flexible hose between the caliper projections in a safe position. Detach the caliper through the process of unfastening the 2 sliding pins at 88 Nm torque and then separating the caliper from the torque plate. Follow this step with pad support plate removal and then proceed to remove brake pads that include an anti-squeal shim. Reverse the removal process to install the components while maintaining the brake fluid level in the brake reservoir and conducting brake system bleeds followed by leakage checks.
