2001 Toyota Highlander Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the Air Bag Sensor on 2001 Toyota Highlander?
A: The first step to replace the Air Bag Front RH Sensor [89173A/98-173] requires safety measures for battery negative terminal separation. Complete the disconnection of the front Air Bag sensor RH connector while you remove the 2 bolts maintaining the sensor. Perform a quality check on the Air Bag Front RH Sensor [89173A/98-173] after its removal. During sensor installation the new part requires an OFF ignition switch and 90 seconds minimum disconnect of the battery negative terminal. After bolting down the front Air Bag sensor RH with its 2 components to 20 N.m (200 kgf.cm, 14 ft.lbf) torque please verify the sensor connector attachment and inspect for loose connections. Final inspection should focus on the SRS warning light.
