2001 Toyota Highlander Air Bag Sensor Parts Q&A
Q: How to replace the Air Bag Sensor Assembly Center on 2001 Toyota Highlander?
A: Before moving forward the first step should be to disconnect the battery negative terminal while taking standard safety procedures. The technician should remove four panels which include the Instrument Cluster Finish Panel Assy Center [55420A], the Floor Carpet Cover Center RH [58533C] and the Floor Carpet Cover Center LH [58534E] together with the Instrument Panel Finish Panel Lower Center [554MB] and the Air Duct Rear No.1 [87212/98-187] and Air Duct Rear No.2 [87213/98-187]. The next step includes taking off the clamp and disconnecting the three connectors from the Air Bag Sensor Assy Center [89170/98-173] before removing its three bolts. Thoroughly examine the Air Bag Sensor Assy Center [89170/98-173] after taking it off. Start the installation procedure when the ignition switch is off and disconnect the battery negative terminal. Wait for 90 seconds after removal to begin reinstalling. Use the provided three bolts to attach the Air Bag Sensor Assy Center before torquing them to 20 N.m (200 kgf.cm, 14 ft.lbf). Safely connect the connector to the Air Bag Sensor Assy Center where the water-proof sheet must be correctly installed to prevent play in the connection. In order to finalize the process check that the SRS warning light is functional.
