2001 Toyota Echo Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to remove and install the Door Side Air Bag Sensor for a 2-door vehicle on 2001 Toyota Echo?
A: Start the installation of the 2-door Door Side Air Bag Sensor only after turning off the ignition switch to prevent writing DTCs. SRS parts from different vehicles must never be used on a system and sensors require complete replacement when deployed because they become irreparable. First step involves removing the regulator handle when power windows are absent and the power window switch in case they exist. The installation process starts with removal of three parts including the lower frame bracket garnish as well as pull handle and door trim. Professionals should detach the door side Air Bag sensor connector when positioning the sensor assembly while performing its mounting. The sensor requires removal of its two mounting bolts. The installation of the door side Air Bag sensor requires bolt positioning with two bolts while directing the arrow for front-facing vehicle orientation and securing the bolts to a torque of 20 N.m (205 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf). The installation process requires connecting the sensor connector but only after installation and using the proper force to secure it against diagnostic system failures. A new sensor must take the place of any sensor that either has fallen or displays obvious fractures. Reinstallation of door trim and pull handle and lower frame bracket garnish and power window switch or regulator handle needs to be conducted according to their respective application.
