- Q: How Should You Safely Deploy an Air Bag When Scrapping a Vehicle on 2001 Toyota Echo?A: The disposal of side Air Bags with an SRS system requires vehicle owners to use Special Service Tool: 09082-00700 (SRS Air Bag Deployment Tool) before outdoor deployment to protect nearby residents within at least 10 m (33 ft) from the Air Bag assembly. Use a battery for power while inspecting the Special Service Tool and detaching the side Air Bag connector by avoiding harming the Air Bag wire harness. Sensor Installers should connect both tools of Special Service Tool: 09082-00700 and 09082-00750 to the Air Bag connector but keep the secondary lock unlocked to avoid hardware damage. The Special Service Tool must be positioned at least 33 feet from the vehicle front while continuously connected to the battery for both positive (+) red clip to the battery and negative (-) black clip. Press the activation switch to deploy the Air Bag after checking the vehicle and surrounding area is empty up to 10 m (33 ft). The deployment of the Air Bag will activate simultaneous to LED illumination. Your operation should last at least 30 minutes while the side Air Bag assembly must receive hand treatment with protective gloves and safety glasses while also staying free from moisture waves hand through post-operation handwashing procedures. The vehicle should receive the side Air Bag assembly for disposal after it remains inside its position.
