2001 Toyota Corolla A/C Condenser Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the A/C Condenser on 2001 Toyota Corolla?
A: The service process for the HVAC condenser starts by removing refrigerant from the refrigeration system. Discontinue the discharge hose by first removing its bolt while quickly closing all open fittings to stop moisture and dirt from infiltrating the system. The first step requires removal of upper radiator supports along with No.6 relay block set bolts. Drain engine coolant while keeping in mind that complete fluid evacuation is unnecessary. To remove the condenser workers must disconnect both the upper radiator hose and the engine coolant reservoir hose followed by lifting the radiator to push it toward the engine and removing the 2 condenser set bolts before pulling the condenser toward the radiator and upward. Start by mounting the condenser with its 2 set bolts before placing the radiator into position; install both upper supports at this time. Connect the upper radiator hose and the engine coolant reservoir hose to the radiator system while performing engine coolant filling and mounting the No.6 relay block set bolts. To connect the discharge hose you should first apply compressor oil to a new O-ring then mount the hose onto its fitting and fasten it secure with the bolt which needs torquing to 10 N.m (100 kg.cm, 7 ft.lb). To complete the installation you must install the receiver and charge the refrigeration system by removing air then filling it with 22.93 plus or minus 1.76 oz. (650 plus or minus 50 g). Leak inspection must occur during this step.
