- Q: How to remove and install the front Air Bag sensor on both sides of the vehicle on 2001 Toyota Avalon?A: Directions to remove the front Air Bag sensor on the left-hand side start with removing 2 bolts, a screw and the left headlight before connector disconnect but keeping the sensor assembly in place. Priority is affixing the front Air Bag sensor through the removal of its two bolts. To replace the front Air Bag sensor on the right side first disconnect the connector with the sensor assembly while performing the same sequence of removing the two bolts, screw, and right headlight and then removing the two bolts and the front Air Bag sensor. The front Air Bag sensor installation requires 4 bolts connecting both sides yet the torque must reach 20 N.m (205 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf). Before connecting the connector wait until the sensor assembly is ready for installation then verify all sensor components for any kind of damage or deformity because replacement with a fresh sensor should be done immediately. Users need to secure the electrical connection check on the front sensor before attaching its connector to prevent upcoming malfunction codes. Always position the arrow on the sensor towards the vehicle front while installing. Secure the headlights by applying 4 bolts while performing installation with 2 screws.
