2001 Toyota 4Runner Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the Fuel Pressure Regulator on 2001 Toyota 4Runner?
A: Start by removing both the air cleaner hose followed by detachment of the intake air connector assembly for service on the Fuel Pressure Regulator. Unplug the fuel return hose from the fuel pressure regulator while using a shop rag beneath the regulator to prevent leaks. Popularly known as engine wire securing, you should first remove the holding bolt before disconnecting the protector from the bracket which exists on the RH cylinder head cover and lifting the engine wire. First disconnect the two bolts to remove the pressure regulator after which you must extract it from the system while also removing its O-ring. To install the pressure regulator users should dip a new O-ring in gasoline before fitting it onto the regulator. Check for smooth movement of the pressure regulator on the delivery pipe but if rotation resistance occurs it indicates that the O-ring requires another installation attempt at step one. Attach the pressure regulator with two bolts while torquing them to 8 N.m (80 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf) before reinstalling the engine wire with the bolt. Install the fuel return hose to the fuel pressure regulator by inserting it up to the stopper and fastening it with clips. Afterward install the intake air connector assembly followed by the air cleaner hose then inspect for fuel leaks.
