2001 Toyota 4Runner Fuel Injector Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair fuel injectors on 2001 Toyota 4Runner?
A: Start by unhooking the air cleaner hose along with the intake air connector assembly and the fuel pressure regulator before detaching the fuel inlet pipe while storing leaking fuel in a container. Start by extracting the fuel pipe and breaking the connection between injector connectors before you separate delivery pipes and injectors while being mindful to not sever the injectors and preventing lateral motions on them. Start the process by removing 4 bolts and 6 delivery pipes together with 6 injectors and 4 spacers from the intake manifold before extracting 6 injectors from delivery pipes to separate 2 O-rings with an insulator from each injector. Place new insulators on all injectors before fitting the delivery pipes during temporary installation by applying gasoline or spindle oil to 2 fresh O-rings before installing them onto each injector over which you will turn the injector into the delivery pipes. Place the 4 spacers on the intake manifold before mounting the delivery pipes with their injectors in place. Temporarily fasten the delivery pipes with 4 bolts for injector rotation inspection. Check for smooth injector movement; replace O-rings if such movement issues exist. First connect the injector connectors before you can install the fuel pipe with its 4 new gaskets using 2 union bolts while torquing both pieces to 34.3 N.m (350 kgf.cm, 25 ft.lbf). Afterward tighten the 4 bolts holding the delivery pipes to the intake manifold until they achieve 13 N.m (130 kgf.cm, 10 ft.lbf). The fuel inlet pipe should be connected using 2 new gaskets along with a union bolt and a clamp bolt while tightening them to specific torques of 8 N.m (80 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf) and 34.3 N.m (350 kgf.cm, 25 ft.lbf). The next procedures include installing the fuel pressure regulator followed by a thorough inspection of the fuel line connections to check for loose parts, sharp bends, or damage. Then the installer should put on the intake air connector assembly along with the air cleaner hose and perform the final step of leak testing.
