2001 Toyota 4Runner A/C Condenser Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the A/C Condenser on 2001 Toyota 4Runner?
A: Proceeding with HVAC condenser servicing requires refrigerant discharge from the refrigeration system followed by evacuation before adding 650 plus or minus 50 g (22.92 plus or minus 1.76 oz.) of refrigerant then inspecting for leaks. The service begins with radiator grill removal and horn disposal and hood lock removal followed by removal of the center brace and the receiver and holder as well as disconnecting the liquid tube and discharge hose by loosening the two bolts to be torqued at 10 N.m (100 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf). The system must immediately get fitted with caps to secure the entrances against moisture or dirt contamination as technicians prepare new O-ring lubrication using compressor oil before their installation on the tubing. The procedure to remove the condenser begins by removing two bolts and lower brackets after which four bolts and upper brackets need replacement before pulling the condenser forward and upward. Distributing 40-50cc (1.4-1.7 fl.oz.) of ND-OIL 8 or equivalent compressor oil is necessary during condenser replacement. The procedure for fitting new components follows exactly the opposite sequence used for taking components out.
