2000 Toyota Sienna Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the A/C Accumulator on 2000 Toyota Sienna?
A: The service and repair process of the A/C Accumulator begins with refrigerant discharge followed by air evacuation before adding 800 plus or minus 50 g (28.22 plus or minus 1.76 oz.) of Single A/C refrigerant and 1,250 plus or minus 50 g (44.09 plus or minus 1.76 oz.) or 1,350 plus or minus 50 g (47.61 plus or minus 1.76 oz.) of Dual A/C (4-Door respectively Dual A/C (5-Door) refrigerant. After opening the two liquid tubes on the accumulator by loosening the two bolts to 5.4 Nm torque setting (55 kg.cm and 48 in.lb), immediately close the exposed fittings using caps to stop system moisture or dirt infiltration. Before installing the tubes users must grease two new 0-rings with compressor oil. The procedure for removing the accumulator involves first removing the holder bolt then easily pulling the accumulator upward. The replacement of the accumulator requires a manual addition of 20cc (0.71 fl.oz.) ND-OIL 8 compressor oil or its equivalent to the system. Complete the removal process by disconnecting first the wire harness clamp followed by the suction hose clamp along with removing the three bolts that maintain the holder. You must uninstall the components in the opposite sequence of installation.
