2001 Toyota Sienna A/C Accumulator Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the A/C Accumulator on 2001 Toyota Sienna?
A: The A/C Accumulator servicing process requires the refrigeration system to empty its refrigerant while evacuating air and adding 1,050 plus or minus 50 g (37.03 plus or minus 1.76 oz.) of selected material before inspecting for any leaks. The service starts by unattaching the two liquid tubes from the A/C accumulator through tightening bolts to 5.4 N.m torque (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf) followed by fast capping exposed ports to stop moisture or dirt from accessing the system. The new O-rings should receive compressor oil as a part of their installation process for the tubes. The holder bolt must be removed before you can pull the A/C accumulator upward for removal. During replacement of the A/C accumulator you should introduce 20 cc (0.71 fl.oz.) of ND-OIL 8 or equivalent compressor oil into the compressor system. The process for removing the A/C accumulator holder requires users to disconnect the wire harness clamp alongside the suction hose clamp before they remove three securing bolts. The installation order should follow the exact opposite steps that were used for removal.
