2000 Toyota RAV4 Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the A/C Condenser on 2000 Toyota RAV4?
A: Service and repair operations for the HVAC condenser require deterioration of refrigerant from the refrigeration system followed by evacuation of air and refrigerant charging before conducting a leakage inspection with a stated 700 plus or minus 500 g (24.69 plus or minus 1.76 oz.) measurement. Next disconnect the liquid tube and discharge hose by removing the 2 bolts while torquing them to 10 Nm (100 kg.cm, 7 ft.lb) and immediately cap each open fitting to avoid moisture or dirt entry into the system. Insert two new hoses with compressor oil before placing the O-rings onto respective seasonal and discharge tubes. To do this remove the condenser by first unbolting the existing 2 fasteners then raising it up. During replacement of the condenser technicians should insert 40cc (1.4 fl.oz.) of compressor oil that must be either ND-OIL 8 or an equivalent form. The installation procedure unfolds in the opposite direction of how removal was conducted.
