2000 Toyota MR2 Spyder Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Brake Master Cylinder on 2000 Toyota MR2 Spyder?
A: Service and repair of the Brake Master Cylinder begins with disassembling the luggage compartment trim box cover and disconnecting the level warning switch connector. Extract the fluid using a syringe and ensure brake fluid avoids contact with paint surfaces because immediate cleaning is required. The brake master cylinder receives its brake line detachment through the use of Special Service Tool: 09023-00100 which enables the removal of both brake lines. The process to remove the brake master cylinder starts with disassembly of two nuts followed by pulling out the master cylinder while discarding the O-ring. To install the master cylinder insert an O-ring first followed by attaching it to the two nuts before torquing to 13 Nm (130 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.). Install the brake lines to the master cylinder using Special Service Tool: 09023-00100 according to the torque values of 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.) and 14 Nm (143 kgf-cm, 10 ft. lbs.) on the special service tool. The recommended wrench for this installation should use a 30 cm (11.81 inches) torque wrench fulcrum. After connecting the level warning switch you should fill the reservoir with brake fluid followed by brake system bleeding. To complete the installation, check for fluid leakage while verifying and adjusting the brake pedal followed by reinstallation of the luggage compartment trim box cover.
