2000 Toyota Land Cruiser Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install the radiator on 2000 Toyota Land Cruiser?
A: Engine under cover No.1 must be removed as the first step before draining the engine coolant. Drain the coolant while disconnecting all radiator upper and lower hoses from their fixtures and also removing A/T oil cooler hoses. To extract the radiator reservoir start by disconnecting its wire clamp then its reservoir hose then proceed with unbolting the reservoir while extracting both the reservoir and grommet. Start by disconnecting the bracket-mounted clamp from the A/C discharge tube before taking out the 2 bolts and 2 brackets supporting the wire from the radiator. First drain the cooling system at the overflow tank and radiator before removing the fan shroud by unfastening its clamp on the fan shroud and loosening the fan pulley nuts followed by unclipping the generator drive belt. Finish by taking out the 3 bolts securing the fan shroud to the radiator. After removing the 4 fan pulley mounting nuts the technician must pull the fan assembly with fluid coupling and fan pulley and fan shroud as well as all necessary parts. Subsequently the radiator can be removed by taking the 2 nuts and bolts out. begin by taking out the 4 nuts alongside two brackets from the radiator side supports followed by the removal of 8 nuts and 2 side supports. Begin radiator installation with the 2 side supports through 8 nuts until they reach 12.7 Nm (130 kgf cm, 9 ft pounds), then install the 2 brackets with 4 nuts tightened to 20 Nm (200 kgf cm, 13 ft pounds). The radiator assembly needs to be placed onto the body while you secure it with 2 bolts torqued to 18 Nm (185 kgf cm, 13 ft. lbs.) and install the 2 nuts torqued to 20 Nm (200 kgf cm, 15 ft. lbs.). When installing the components, place the fan with fluid coupling while attaching the fan pulley and fan shroud. Install the fan pulley mounting nuts, but leave them temporarily then secure the fan shroud with 3 bolts tightened to 5.0 Nm (50 kgf cm, 43 inch lbs.). After attaching the 2 brackets on wire to the radiator wire with 2 bolts, install the 2 clamps on the A/C discharge tube to the brackets on the wire with 2 nuts. Place a grommet onto the reservoir before attaching the lower reservoir end to the fan shroud using 2 bolts to secure it. Afterward connect the reservoir hose to the radiator and install the clamp on the wire to the radiator. The radiator receives both A/T oil cooler hoses and upper and lower hoses while the technician perform coolant filling before engine startup to verify leaks and follow with resin level check prior to engine under cover No.1 installation.
