2000 Toyota Celica Air Bag Sensor Parts Q&A
Q: How to remove and install the front Air Bag sensor on the LH and RH sides on 2000 Toyota Celica?
A: The first step to remove front Air Bag sensors on the LH side requires air cleaner hose removal followed by air cleaner cap and air filter removal. Additionally, you must remove the two air cleaner case bolts before disconnecting the connector when keeping the sensor assembly installed. Finally, remove the two bolts of the front Air Bag sensor LH. Proceed to delete the front Air Bag sensor LH by first removing its two bolts. The installation of the front Air Bag sensor on the right-hand side (RH) requires users to eliminate five clips and the upper front fender apron seal followed by disconnecting sensor connectors with installed assembly then extracting two bolts securing the front Air Bag sensor RH. Installation requires 4 bolts which must reach 20 Nm (205 kg.cm, 15 ft.lb) torque specification while front Air Bag sensor LH and RH are secured and front Air Bag sensor connector must be connected after sensor assembly installation. Restore the sensor with new ones in cases of dropping or manifesting defects. A front sensor contains an electrical check system which requires complete locking during connector attachment to prevent malfunction codes. Mount the front Air Bag sensor so its arrow points forward while the vehicle is facing forward. Complete the installation of headlights using 4 bolts in addition to 2 screws before proceeding with the installation of the air cleaner case through 2 bolts before reinstalling the air filter and air cleaner cap and hose. Use 5 clips to fasten the upper front fender apron seal.
