2000 Toyota Avalon Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the camshaft position sensor on 2000 Toyota Avalon?
A: The V-bank cover gets removed by using a 5 mm hexagon wrench to remove 3 cap nuts and counter-clockwise loose the cover fastener until removing the cover. The repair process starts with disconnecting the 2 camshaft position sensor connectors and uninstalling the 2 camshaft position sensors together with their bolts. During the removal procedure remove all O-rings from the sensors. Install the new O-rings to the camshaft position sensors before bolt securing them with 8 Nm (80 kg.cm, 69 in.lb) torque value and reattaching the 2 sensor connectors. Complete the reinstallation by attaching the air cleaner hose bearing resonator to its housing and securing it with 3 cap nuts while using the 5 mm hexagon wrench. After that fasten down the V-bank cover fastener.
