The process ends with placing back the throttle control motor cover and motor assembly followed by reconnecting the throttle control motor connector and reinstallation of the throttle position sensor. The new accelerator pedal position sensor installation begins with removing the sensor followed by sensor replacement after setting the throttle valve to an opening angle of about 4 degrees. Begin by rotating the sensor 20 degrees leftward before proceeding with clockwise motion to contact the throttle valve shaft while tightening the three set screws. Check the sensor voltage through the tester and verify it displays the normal range at 0.35 - 0.85 V. Position the water bypass hose to the manifold thermostat while using a new gasket and fasten the throttle body with 2 bolts and 2 nuts at 18 N.m (185 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf). The standard throttle valve opening percentage (10 - 14%) should be checked for correct maintenance. Validate that this percentage falls within the specified range when fully closed. Paint the two set screws along with turning off the ignition system before removing testing equipment. To replace the throttle control motor start by taking off the throttle position sensor then disconnect the motor connector before loosening the six screws which lets you remove the motor cover and assembly with washer. A new throttle control motor should be installed by placing the wave washer correctly while matching the pin holes then fastening it with three screws threaded to 3.4 N.m (35 kgf.cm, 30 in.lbf). Using sufficient grease on the gear teeth followed by washer installation will allow you to properly position the motor cover against throttle body before securing it with 6 screws at matched torque levels. To finish the repair you need to recouple the throttle control motor connector followed by reinstallation of the throttle position sensor. To replace the accelerator pedal position sensor you need to eliminate its three set screws before installation while positioning the throttle valve at 4 degrees open at the end. Tighten the 3 set screws to achieve 5.4 N.m tension (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf) after you rotate the sensor to the left by 20 degrees. Before completing installation the operator should use a TOYOTA hand-held tester or OBDII scan tool to inspect the accelerator pedal position sensor by connecting its connector and verifying the ACCEL POS #1 (VPA) voltage stays within 0.35 - 0.85 V normal range after installing the throttle body the system operation can be checked.

Ensure the wave washer is in place, align the pin holes, and apply grease to the gear teeth before reinstalling the motor cover and connecting the throttle control motor connector.

Remove the ventilation cap.

Remove the ventilation cap, unfasten the 2 bolts and 2 nuts, and disconnect the water bypass hose from the manifold thermostat, then remove the gasket.

Remove the two bolts and two nuts along with the throttle body and gasket.

Fill with engine coolant.

Remove the two bolts, two nuts, throttle body, and gasket.
